Frequently Asked Questions

Just like a basketball coach helps children develop the skills, confidence, and ability to thrive on the basketball court, a life coach for kids helps children develop the skills, confidence, and ability to thrive in life.

  • Life coaching for kids focuses on developing MINDSET! By teaching kids how their mind works, we empower them to create their own happiness, confidence, self-esteem, resilience, self-leadership, and so much more.

  • In most educational systems, children are not learning the one thing that has the greatest impact on their lives and that’s how to develop their MINDSET.

MINDSET is how we think, and it’s the key to self-confidence, self-esteem, resilience, achievements, happiness, and so much more!

Life coaches help children navigate the challenges of life!

Life coaching for kids is a critical part of the mental health solution that most people are not aware of, and that is to help with prevention!

If you look at Mental Health on a continuum, mental wellness is on one side and mental illness is on the opposite side.

Counselors and therapists mostly focus on the mental illness side by supporting children to regain their mental health, often after a mental health crisis.

Life Coaches support children on the mental wellness side by empowering them to develop resilience and coping skills to help them navigate the challenges of life.

They also empower children to learn how to proactively build self-esteem and confidence, live life with intent, achieve their goals and be who they were meant to be in the world!

  • Using the proven coaching system with Adventures in Wisdom™️, we help kids…

*Develop resilience skills when there is a bump in the road, such as a big life change or major disappointment. The skills they learn will help them to overcome the challenge and move forward!

*Build self-esteem by learning that it comes from who they are on the inside and not from what they achieve.

*Believe in themselves and build their self-confidence by learning how to get out of their comfort zone and stretch themselves to try new things!

*Develop their “inner compass” and self-leadership by learning the core values of integrity, responsibility, respect, and self-respect. This will allow them to think for themselves and make good decisions so they can be their own person and stand up to peer pressure.

*Learn to live life intentionally instead of just cruising along. These skills will help them create a vision for their life and achieve their goals!

  • There could be a variety of reasons that parents hire a life coach for their child.

~They see their child struggling with low self-esteem-getting down on themselves or thinking that no one likes them.

~When their child is going through a big change, such as starting a new school, moving to a new town, or divorcing parents.

~They want to help their child be more successful in school or in extracurricular activities.

~They see their child struggling with confidence, shyness, or anxiety-not wanting to try new things or experiences.

~They see their child making poor decisions with their peers.

~There are constant struggles at home around homework, chores and other responsibilities.

~When they want to give their child the opportunity to THRIVE and reach their full potential by helping them create positive mindset skills!

  • The main difference is brain development.

Adults have much stronger critical thinking skills because the frontal lobes of their brain, where critical thinking occurs, are fully developed. These critical thinking skills enable them to make distinctions and to draw conclusions more effectively.

Adults also have greater life experience to draw upon. That is why life coaches for adults use questions as their main tool for engaging with their clients.

    A child’s brain is different.

Their frontal lobes are not fully developed nor are their critical reasoning skills.

As a result, coaching kids requires a stronger teaching component to help them learn these powerful mindset skills. With a coach’s guidance, kids can then learn how to apply the skills to their own lives.

And since a child’s attention span is much shorter than an adult’s, it’s important that we find engaging ways to coach kids, such as telling stories and doing fun activities!

  • Stories are a powerful way to connect with children!

Stories stimulate multiple centers of the brain, which leads to deeper learning. They are also a great tool for starting conversations with kids. Stories allow children to learn without a lecture and allows coaches to teach without preaching.

Through the Adventures in Wisdom™️ stories, children get to see the skills in action, which allows them to apply the skills to their own situations, under a coach’s guidance. Stories help create an emotionally safe space for children to learn and connect with their coach!

  • After our Connection Call, we will develop a coaching package that will best suit your child’s needs. Helping them develop the skills they need will take time, and yes, multiple sessions.

  • Each coaching session lasts for one hour. During that time, we will review what was learned in the previous session, start our new power skill story, and engage in fun activities to help reinforce what we discussed. Parents are invited to join us for the last 5 minutes of the coaching session so that your child can tell you what they learned.

I will send an follow-up email after each session that will have more information about the skill that they learned, and how they can reinforce it during the week.
